Mandatory Internet Filing for T2 Returns

The CRA has announced that all corporations that have gross revenues over $1 million will be required to file their T2 return electronically, with the following exceptions:
- Insurance corporations
- Non-resident corporations
- Corporations reporting in functional currency
- Corporations exempt from tax payable under section 149 of the Income Tax Act
This change is effective for taxation years ending after 2009.

Why is the CRA making Internet filing mandatory for T2 income tax returns?

The CRA implemented this change to increase government efficiency while delivering service and value to taxpayers. This is also consistent with other leading tax administrations.
