ProFile Workstation installations on Windows 8 fail with UAC errors

When setting up a Workstation Install on a computer running Microsoft Windows' 8, the installation fails with a UAC error (User Access Control). The failure occurs even when UAC security levels are reduced.
This problem is due to a recently-discovered issue with InstallShield and network folders on Windows 8.

* Terminal server environments are not supported by ProFile technical support.
If you get a call on this issue, and the above steps did not work, please contact tier 2 support. There are steps that can be taken in the registry if they are not on a terminal server.
