Use forms RC59 and RC59X for the T1 module

SOLVEDby IntuitUpdated 1 year ago

About the updated forms

Forms RC59 and RC59X were updated in ProFile release 2018.3.0 to allow electronic approval of two services:

  • Authorization to access client information via online, phone, and mail methods
  • The cancellation of existing client access

Both services were previously available only by mailing the forms to CRA.

The updated RC59 form allows preparers to obtain instant online, phone, and mail authorization (similar to T1013 form) to client accounts. The CRA grants the authorization immediately after filing the form with the return.

The previous paper-only authorization did not include the online access, only phone and mail. The updated form automatically grants authorization for all access methods.

Note: Some clients may not wish to provide online electronic access to their preparer. In this event, it is still possible to request phone and mail access only by sending the RC59 form to the CRA by physical mail.

Accessing the RC59 form

  1. Enter the term RC59EFILE in the Form Explorer in ProFile.
  2. The updated RC59 form opens.

Completing the RC59 form

  1. Check the Enable printing and EFILE of this authorization request checkbox at the top of the form.
  2. Complete the RC59 form. Some information on the form populates from the ProFile Module... options settings.
  3. Designate any client accounts to be exempt from the authorization request. If this list is left blank by the requestor, the authorization applies to all client accounts.
  4. Print the RC59 form and acquire a signature from the client.
  5. Select the EFILE the RC59 option from the EFILE menu in the top toolbar.
  6. A timestamp displays on the RC59 form in the This request was transmitted on: field following the EFILE.
  7. Retain a copy of the signed RC59 form in the event of a future CRA request.

Managing RC59 form options

  1. Select the Module... option under the Options drop-down menu in the top toolbar. The Module Options window displays.
  2. Select the General tab. Various RC59 form options are available under the General tab.
  3. Select and save the necessary options for the RC59 form.

The selected options save and reflect on the RC59 form going forward.

The updated RC59X form allows preparers to cancel existing authorizations for client data possessed by other preparers. The CRA cancels the existing authorizations immediately after filing the form with the return.

The previous request form was only filed by paper. The updated RC59X form automatically cancels the existing authorizations.

Accessing the RC59X form

  1. Enter the term RC59XEFILE in the Form Explorer in ProFile.
  2. The updated RC59X form opens.

Completing the RC59X form

  4. Print the RC59X form and acquire a signature from the client.
  5. Select the EFILE the RC59X option from EFILE menu in top toolbar. A timestamp displays on the RC59X form in the This request was transmitted on: form field following the EFILE.
