How to remove CPP calculations if exempt in ProFile
by Intuit• Updated 2 months ago
If you need to record a CPP exemption on the S8 form in ProFile, the software might still calculate the CPP value. If that happens, there's a check box on the form you can select.

Note: The S8 form isn't available for Quebec returns. For QPP, refer to the S8Q.
On the form, you'll see two checkboxes. If it applies to you, select "Have you elected to stop paying CPP contributions (CPT30 with employer)?" If you've completed and filed form CPT30 with the CRA.
If you're self-employed and exempt from CPP, select the checkbox labelled "Did you choose to stop contribution on self-employment in a previous year?" This will make the CPP value in box 17 of the S8 become 0.
Note: To qualify, you must be between ages 65 and 70 and receive CPP/QPP retirement benefits.
