Stop a tuition transfer from a dependent to a parent

The steps below detail the process to stop a tuition transfer from a dependent to a parent.

For the Federal side

1. On the parent's return that has the tuition transfer claim, navigate to the Dependent form.
2. Scroll down to the section Tuition and Education - transfer from a dependent.
3. Override the tuition transfer amount to $0, or to the amount that you would like the spouse to claim.
4. Sign off on the changes.

For the Provincial side

1. On the parent's return that has the tuition transfer claim, navigate to the relevant Provincial Credits form.
2. Scroll down to the section Line 5848 and 5860 - Transfer from dependents.
3. Override the tuition transfer amount to $0, or to the amount that you would like the spouse to claim.
4. Sign off on the changes.
