Font issue on TP1 module

by Intuit Updated 1 year ago

The steps below apply if you encounter one or more of the following issues:

  • No descriptions in the TP1
  • Only lines and amounts displayed
  • TP1 forms not displaying properly
  • Incorrect fonts

Resolution

This issue can occur when the user upgrades their operating system; Windows makes a backup copy of the fonts and overwrites the previous fonts. Because TP1 module use the old fonts,  the TP1 module is not displaying the forms correctly.

To fix this, follow these steps:

1. Enter cmd in the Windows Start menu.
2. Run the Command Prompt as an Administrator.
3. Copy and paste the following commands into the Command Prompt module:

cd windowsfonts
del ARIALN.TTF
del ARIALNB.TTF
del ARIALNBI.TTF
del ARIALNI.TTF
del GREENPNT.TTF
del OCRAEXT.TTF
del ARIALN_*.TTF
del ARIALNB_*.TTF
del ARIALNBI_*.TTF
del ARIALNI_*.TTF
del GREENPNT_*.TTF
del OCRAEXT_*.TTF

4. In Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\WindowsFonts.
5. Delete any of the following:

If your display settings show the font thumbnails with proper names:

  • OCR A Extended
  • GreenPoint Regular
  • Arial Narrow
  • Arial Narrow Bold,
  • Arial Narrow Bold Italic
  • Arial Narrow Italics

Note: You may need to double-click Arial to see the Narrow variations of Arial.

If your display settings show the font files with short names:

  • ARIALN.TTF
  • ARIALNB.TTF
  • ARIALNBI.TTF
  • ARIALNI.TTF
  • GREENPNT.TTF
  • OCRAEXT.TTF

6. Copy Fonts.zip from the escalation #438 to the user's computer and extract the files to a temporary location.

The .zip file of common Windows fonts can also be found in the pcg_common_fonts.zip file.

7. Select all six font files you just extracted, right-click, and select Install.
8. Restart your computer.
