Error 20050 displays when trying to NETFILE a AT1
by Intuit• Updated 1 year ago
The following message displays when attempting to NETFILE:
20050 : This return cannot be accepted because a return with the same Alberta Corporate Account Number and Taxation Year End has already been filed. If this return is an amendment, please submit in paper format to Tax and Revenue Administration, 9811-109 St, Edmonton AB, T5K 2L5, or fax to 780-427-0348.
Resolution
Despite this message, no code has been generated on the AT1 section of the T2 return.
After the return is received via EFILE by the Federal Government, the CRA expects the Provincial (in this case Alberta) to undergo NETFILE separately. If the return does not undergo NETFILE to Alberta Finance within the 6 months of the fiscal year end, a parallel assessment may be created. If this is the case when a return undergoes NETFILE you will receive the error 20050.
The taxpayer or their authorized representative can call Alberta Information Services to confirm receipt of a return.
It is suggested to call and inquire if an assessment was created, also mentioning the error you are receiving when you NETFILE the return to the Alberta Finance, and inquire whether an amendment or submission by paper (fax can be used) needs to be undertaken.
