British Columbia renter’s tax credit Error Clue 960576

Issue

There are two on-going variations of Error Clue 960576 occurring.

Error clue 960576 is setting incorrectly on EFILE and NETFILE returns when the taxpayer has a marital status of married or common-law and the spouse’s net income is reported as NIL. There is an entry at field 60575 and field 60576. Our system is not recognizing the entry of 1 at field 9918 in the taxpayer’s return in this situation, which causes the error clue to set.

Error clue 960576 is setting incorrectly on EFILE and NETFILE returns in situations where the taxpayer has a marital status of married or common-law and the spouse’s net income is reported as NIL. There is an entry at field 60575 but no entry at field 60576 due to the taxpayer’s family net income being above $80,000. Our system is not recognizing the entry of 1 at field 9918 in the taxpayer’s return in this situation, which causes the error clue to set.

Resolution

CRA has confirmed the issue and is currently investigating. They have not provided a date for resolution.

Top menu bar distortion occurrs when switching between different monitors

Issue

Some users who drag the ProFile application between different monitors are encountering screen distortions in the top menu bar.

Cause

This issue is a result of different text size scale settings between the monitors.

For example, if one monitor's text size scaling is set to 100 percent, and the second monitor's text size scaling is set to 125 percent, the distortion in the top menu bar may occur.

Workaround

Navigate to the Windows display settings of each monitor being used and set the text size to the same scale setting (for example, 100 percent) and restart ProFile.

We are enabling monitor settings logging to determine the frequency of this issue. There is no experience change when logging is enabled.

Resolution

This issue will be resolved in an upcoming ProFile release.

Business statement is not visible in the Form Explorer on the spouse return

When working on a T1 coupled return, where a business statement is used when switching between returns, the financial statement will not automatically open on the spouse’s return or appear in the Form Explorer.

This applies to both in a new coupled return or in a carried forward coupled return where there was no business statement for the spouse in the previous year.

Expected behaviour

When opening the T776 form on the spouse's return, it should automatically create a T776#2.

This affects all forms that are multicopy and are shared between spouses, including the following:

• T2125
• T2121
• T2042
• T776
• T1163
• T2091

Impact

This applies to TY20 and earlier tax years.

Workaround

Create the financial statement on the primary taxpayer return and allocate 100% to the spouse, or:

Force open the financial statement in the spouse’s return by typing the statement name with the #2 tag (for example, T2125#2).

Resolution

This issue will be fixed in a future release.

If an address entered on S3PrincipalResidenceDetails includes a street name containing a dash followed by an accented character, the address flows to TP274 incorrectly:

Impact

Workaround

Override the address fields on TP274 to correct the address.

ProFile freezes for some Backup to Cloud users with “Unable to validate your online credentials” message

ProFile freezes for some Backup to Cloud users; an “Unable to validate your online credentials” message displays after a period of time.

Resolution

ProFile recommends logging out of Backup to Cloud and refraining from using the service while our product team investigates this issue.

ProFile does not carry forward TaxCycle data for more than one S125 form

When carrying forward T2 returns, forms subsequent to the first S125 are not populated with TaxCycle data; only the initial form populates.

Workaround

Review the equivalent S125 forms in TaxCycle and enter the additional statements manually in ProFile.

Resolution

This issue will be fixed in a future ProFile release.
