Known EFILE errors incorrectly setting (Expected resolution TBD)

by Intuit Updated a day ago

If you receive one or more of the following error(s) when efiling it's due to a CRA systems tax calculator error that is affecting all EFILE certified tax software across Canada. We are actively advocating on your behalf to help ensure that these filing issues are resolved as quickly as possible:

Below are known errors currently under CRA investigation:

EFILE Error 90228

The error was incorrectly being flagged when claiming an Allowable Business Investment Loss (line 21700) and line 21698 has a number, but line 21699 is empty.

The CRA has corrected this error as of April 14, 2025.

EFILE Error 2306

This error clue is incorrectly setting in a limited number of cases for EFILE and NETFILE returns.

The CRA hasn't yet communicated a timeline to fix this.

EFILE Error 2508

This error clue is incorrectly setting on EFILE and NETFILE returns where form T2017 is being completed despite entries on the T2017 being correct.

The CRA has corrected this error as of April 23, 2025.

Note: Additional instances of this error clue continue to set incorrectly after April 23, 2025. The CRA is investigating these instances and hasn't provided a timeframe when these issues will be corrected.

EFILE Error 95033

Instances of EC 95033 setting erroneously where the taxpayer has employment income below $3,500 and the province of employment is the same as the province of residence (Schedule 8 completed) have been resolved as of March 27, 2025.

This error clue was also setting incorrectly on EFILE and NETFILE returns when the taxpayer’s situation requires completion of form RC381 and the employment income is below $3,500. The CRA has corrected this error as of April 14, 2025.

EFILE Error 99915

An incorrect error was being triggered in EFILE returns where the only income amount is at line 12905. The system is incorrectly expecting line 9915 to equal '1'.

The CRA has corrected this error as of April 14, 2025.

EFILE Error 95365

An incorrect error is being triggered in EFILE returns when rounding causes the sum of lines 17599 and 17600 to exceed line 68140.

The CRA made adjustments to their production system on April 7, 2025 to reduce instances of EC 95365 due to rounding issues. The CRA has noted that the present wording of this error clue is missing references to period 1 line 17599. The CRA is awaiting confirmation from the responsible area to see if the phrasing of the error clue will be adjusted as well.

The CRA expected to have this error corrected by April 23, 2025. An updated timeframe for this fix hasn't provided.

EFILE Error 2515

This EFILE error was incorrectly being triggered in EFILE returns due to a CRA system issue.

The CRA has corrected this error as of April 16, 2025.

Note: Additional instances of this error clue continue to set incorrectly after April 16, 2025. The CRA is investigating these instances and hasn't provided a timeframe when these issues will be corrected.

EFILE Error 45555

The number of months the taxpayer received retirement benefits (line 55400) plus the number of months the taxpayer received disability benefits (line 55550) should not be greater than 12. If the combined value entered in lines 55400 & 55550 exceeds 12, the return should be rejected. However, the CRA continues to investigate potential exception cases that may be preventing the filing of a return.

EFILE Error 45556

(Effective as of tax year 2024 and for Quebec residents only) - When the taxpayer receives retirement benefits and disability benefits for the same period in the year, they will be issued at least two T4A(P) Statement of Canada Pension Plan Benefits (slip), one with the amount of Quebec Pension Plan retirement benefits (QPP) received and indicating the number of months they received retirement benefits (this includes those months they received both benefits for the same months) up to a maximum of 12 months.

They will also receive a second T4A(P) slip with the amount of QPP disability benefits received indicating the number of months they received ONLY QPP disability benefits. Consequently, the disability slip may indicate zero months if the beneficiary was in receipt of both benefits for the full pay period for the year. The CRA systems currently expect a number of months to be included if disability benefits are reported at line 11410. To accommodate this new reporting requirement, the CRA will be implementing a system change to allow the return to be accepted with a zero at line 55550 if line 55400 is greater than 0, even if disability benefits are reported at line 11410.

The correction for the above issue is expected to be in production on May 19, 2025.

EFILE Error 95034

This error clue should no longer be setting incorrectly.

EFILE Error 90308 and EFILE Error 95031

These error codes are being triggered in a small number of cases where there are anomalies with the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Quebec Pension Plan (QPP) contributions or pensionable earnings reported on an individual’s T4 Statement of Remuneration Paid (slip). The CRA will be implementing a system change to address these anomalies for the processing of the individual’s income tax and benefit return and will provide an update once this system change is implemented.

As a result, the CRA is revising the Schedule 8 and RC381 forms on an urgent basis. The CRA systems will also need to be updated in light of the changes to the Schedule 8 and RC381 forms. As soon as the CRA has more information regarding the timeframe for when the final forms and and systems updates will be completed, they will provide us with an update.

The CRA expects the above issue to be resolved by May 19, 2025.
