How to request a Digital Access Code (DAC) in ProFile

by Intuit• Updated 1 week ago

A Digital Access Code (DAC) confirms your identity when you're not signed in to a CRA account. The CRA gives tax preparers this information to file certain business returns electronically. You can get this information from the CRA through ProFile for Business Special Elections and Returns (SERs) forms, such as but not limited to S89, T2054, T2058, T2057, T2059, and UHT2900.

The CRA now requires your business’ most recent Notice of Assessment (NOA) or Reassessment (NOR) to request a DAC.

Note: If this is your first time filing and you’re requesting a DAC, call the CRA help desk to get one.

To get a DAC code in ProFile, follow these steps:

  1. Open ProFile.
  2. From the EFILE menu, select EFILE SERs…
  3. Choose File SERS Return and submit documents (if applicable) and select Next.
  4. Select File a return with Digital Access Code (DAC) and then select Next.
  5. A new window will appear, select Request to get a DAC code. All the information on this screen needs to be correct to continue.
  6. You can select Next to continue with submitting the return. Check out this article if you need more help submitting a Special Election and Return Filing (SERs).

Note: You will receive a confirmation number. We recommend saving a copy for your records.
