"Not authorized to transmit the income tax file" error when trying to NETFILE a TP1 return in ProFile

When trying to NETFILE a TP1 return, the following error may occur:

Not authorized to transmit the income tax file.

Resolution

1. Select Options... from the EFILE dropdown menu.
2. Select the TP1 Internet option under the T1 heading.

3. Ensure the correct NetFile QC Number and Access Code values have been entered.

4. Ensure the correct CRA Preparer Number value has been entered.

If the error persists

1. Select Options... from the EFILE dropdown menu.
2. Select General.

3. Identify the Group values under the EDI Control Numbers section.

Note: Each time a TP1 statement is sent, the EDI number increases.

4. In the Group field, alter the range of values to 0 and 100.

5. If the second value already exceeds 100, enter a number that is still greater in value.
6. Select OK.
7. Attempt to NETFILE the return.
