Provincial political contributions not calculating after 2016
by Intuit• Updated 1 year ago
Issue one: A warning message only applies to Ontario political contributions, but displays for all provinces
If a ProFile user reports a political contribution made after December 31, 2016, a warning message informs the user that the contribution is not eligible for the political contribution tax credit in Ontario:
This notice should apply only to political contributions made for Ontario.
Workaround
Users may sign-off on the warning for any non-Ontario province.
Issue two: Non-Ontario political contribution amounts are not flowing to S5 for credit calculation
If a ProFile user reports a political contribution made after December 31, 2016 for a jurisdiction other than Ontario, the contribution amount does not flow to S5 for the calculation of credit.
Workaround
Override the Summary by jurisdiction section of the political contribution worksheet to include the amounts after December 31, 2016.
Example: For contributions made in British Columbia after December 31, 2016, override the British Columbia amount under the Summary by jurisdiction section.
Resolution
This issue was resolved in ProFile release 2017.3.0.
