End of support for Windows Server 2012 R2

Microsoft has announced the end of support for Windows Server 2012 as of October 10, 2023. Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or support for Windows Server 2012 after this date. See more about this here (English only).

After October 10, 2023, programs may experience security or reliability issues running on Windows Server 2012 and Intuit will not support ProFile running on Windows Server 2012. Users must install ProFile on a supported operating system listed below.

ProFile products installed on Windows Server 2012 will not be able to run software updates, be able to EFILE returns from tax year 2022 or later to the CRA, or have the most up-to-date product safeguards. In addition, users are no longer allowed to install ProFile on Windows Server 2012. Intuit will not be responsible for security or reliability issues on systems running Windows Server 2012.

Microsoft recommends that Windows Server 2012 R2 users upgrade to Windows Server 2016 or higher, which can provide the latest security updates to help keep you and your data safer, and can be downloaded for free.

ProFile will support:

Windows 10 and 11
Windows Server 2016 and 2019

How do I migrate my files from my old computer to a new one?

Should I back up my files before updating my computer?

Windows updates usually complete without difficulty, and your personal data and installed software shouldn't be affected by the update. However, you should always have a backup of your personal files, even if you are not upgrading your operating system.

What will happen to my personalized templates?

If you’re purchasing a new computer or server, they can be transferred alongside your returns and files so nothing is lost. If you’re upgrading your existing computer, we recommend you back up your files, but otherwise, there will be no changes to the files or location where they are stored.

Will I have the same form selections and print setup?

There will be no changes to existing ProFile options. Form selections hold after the update and you can still carry them forward like you could before the update.

Will fonts or resolution change?

ProFile now includes support for 4K monitors. 4K is a common resolution among newer monitors on the market. While ProFile fonts remain the same, you may have a better viewing experience with these types of monitors.

Is the install wizard and setup the same?

No changes have been made to the installation process.
