Error occurs when trying to NETFILE a TP1 return: "not authorized to transmit the income tax file"

Issue

When trying to NETFILE a TP1 return, the following error occurs: "not authorized to transmit the income tax file".

Resolution

1. Select "Options..." from the "EFILE" dropdown menu on the top toolbar:

2. Select the "TP1 Internet" option under the "T1" heading:

3. Ensure the correct "NetFile QC Number" and "Access Code" values have been entered:

4. Ensure the correct "CRA Preparer Number" value has been entered:

If the error persists:

1.  Select "Options" from the "EFILE" drop-down menu on the top toolbar:

2. Select the "General" option:

3. Identify the "Group" values under the "EDI Control Numbers" section:

Each time a TP1 statement is sent, the EDI number increases.

4. In the "Group" field, alter the range of values to "0" and "100":

5. If the second value already exceeds "100", enter a number that is still greater in value (e.g., "200")

6. Select the "OK" button.

7. Attempt to NETFILE the return.
