Search for a file in the Client Explorer database
by Intuit• Updated 1 year ago
The Client Explorer provides a search function that allows files containing specific identifying information to easily be found.
The drop-down list on the left shows the types of information that can be used in a search. The options in the list depend on the module filter tabs selected. For example, if the only tab selected is the T1 module tab, there'll be no option to search by Business Number (T2) or by Trust Number (T3).
Search based on the Client name
- Enter the client's last name. If the client's first name is known, enter the last name, a comma, and then the first name. For example, to search for John Doe, enter Doe, John. A first few letters of either the first or the last name can also be entered.
- Select Search to narrow the list of files in the client list to those that match the criteria that has been set.
- Select Clear to clear the search and to once again view all the files in the view.
Search based on the SIN, Business Number, Trust Number or Client Reference Number
- Enter the full number, or just enter just the first few digits and the Client Explorer provides a list of possible matches.
- Select Search to narrow the list of files in the client list to those that match the criteria that has been set.
- Select Clear to clear the search and to once again view all the files in the view.
Note: To set a Client Reference Number for a client, right-click on the client record within the Client Explorer and select Edit Client Details. Then, enter the number at the top of the dialogue box.
