Resolution
ProFile users can address this issue by deleting and re-entering the EFILE password information provided by CRA.
Confirm correct password via CRA website
Navigate to the CRA's EFILE for electronic filers website:
Click the EFILE Login button and log in using your EFILE credentials.
Note: If you are unable to log in to the CRA website, it is likely due to an invalid password. The error message may also inform you that the account is locked, or another message. Contact the CRA to resolve the issue.
If you've verified the password is correct, try the following:
- Close ProFile.
- Right-click on the ProFile desktop icon and select the Run as administrator option.
- Select Options... from the EFILE drop-down menu in the top toolbar. The Electronic Filing Options menu displays.
- Select the EFILE Internet option under the T1 menu on the left-side.
- Delete any existing information in the EFILE On-Line Number and EFILE Online Password fields.
- Select the OK button.
- If you are using an options package, go to Options, then Options Administration... and save your options package.
- Close and reopen ProFile.
- Select Set EFILE password under the EFILE drop-down menu in the top toolbar. The EFILE wizard displays.
- Follow the prompts within the EFILE wizard to re-enter the EFILE password.
- If using an options package, save your options package again in Options > Options Administration...
- With the file you're trying to file open, select Properties... from the File dropdown menu in the top toolbar.
- Uncheck the CRA errors checkbox.
- Attempt EFILE of the return.
