Resolving an "Access Violation" error in TurboTax Business Inc.

An access violation error may occur when a user either opens the software or attempts to carry forward a file.
An access violation occurs when software opens
A repair is required to resolve an access violation encountered when opening the software:
- Ensure you are using the latest version by following the instructions in our support article, Where can I get the Download version of TurboTax?
- Open the program and select the Repair option.
- Follow the prompted repair steps.
- If the error persists after a repair, follow the instructions in our support article to undertake a clean reinstallation of the software.
An access violation occurs when carrying forward a file
Ensure that the file is not set to Read-only in the File properties if encountering an access violation error when carrying forward a file:
- Navigate to the location where the file being carried forward is located.
- Right-click on the file and select the Properties option.
- Ensure the Read-only box is not selected under the Attributes section:
Review the Full Control settings:
- Right-click on the file and select the Properties option.
- Navigate to the Security tab.
- Select a group or user name under the Permissions section.
- Ensure the group or user name is set to Full Control.
- If the group or user name is not set to Full Control, select the Edit button.
- Set Full Control to the group or user name:
- Select Apply, then select OK.
- Right-click on the software icon and select the option Run as administrator:
The error should be resolved.
Additional options to resolve the issue: Move file to C: drive
- Move the file from it’s current location to anywhere on the C: drive.
- Right-click on the software icon and select the option Run as administrator.
The error should be resolved.
