"Access Violation" error

An Access Violation error message appears when using ProFile.
Run Proreg to repair modules
1. Exit ProFile.
2. Right-click the ProFile desktop icon and select the Open file location option. Windows Explorer opens.
3. Verify the folder location is C:Program Files (x86) > ProFile.
4. Locate the file proreg in the folder.
5. Right-click the proreg file and select Run as administrator. The ProFile Module Registration window displays.
6. Click on the Clear all button; the X in the boxes clear.
Note: It may take several minutes for the boxes to clear.
7. If prompted with a message regarding UAC, allow the access. This prompt is generated because of high security settings for User Account Control permissions. If not prompted, continue to the next step below.
8. Click the Register all button; the X in the boxes repopulates.
Note: It may take several minutes for the boxes to repopulate.
9. Locate the entry gpshell.dll from the list of boxes.
10. Uncheck the gpshell.dll box.
11. Close the ProFile Module Registration window.
If the error persists, continue to the next section below.
Repair ProFile
1. Exit ProFile.
2. Navigate to the ProFile website.
3. Click the orange Download ProFile button; the gpsetup.exe file downloads to your computer.
4. Locate and right-click on the gpsetup.exe icon after it has been downloaded. Select Run as Administrator. The repair of any corrupt components in the software is completed.
5. Restart ProFile.
If the error persists, continue to the next section below.
Uninstall and reinstall ProFile
1. Click on the Windows Start menu and select the Control Panel.
2. Select Uninstall a Program from the Control Panel. A list of installed programs displays.
3. Identify ProFile from the list; right-click the program and select the Uninstall option. The program uninstalls.
4. Reboot the computer.
5. Navigate to the ProFile website.
6. Click the orange Download ProFile button; the gpsetup.exe file downloads to your computer.
7. Locate and right-click on the gpsetup.exe icon after it has been downloaded. Select the Run as Administrator option.
